World Record for Largest Building made out of PEZ Candy!

Chuck Gameon is a Principal that the Choteau Elementary School in Choteau Montana. Readers may know his name from the classified ads in PEZ Collectors News. He collects PEZ and looks for donations of PEZ dispensers. He gives PEZ dispensers to the children as rewards for various things.
Earlier in the school year Chuck came up with the idea of a cool school project. He wanted to get the kids (grades K-6th) to build the local courthouse out of PEZ candy and to get into the Book of World records. There was a problem with that, but that didn't stop Chuck from the class project.
With the help of PEZ Candy, PEZ Collectors News was able to sponsor this project and it was underway.
The base of the building is 4’ x 5’ and the building stands at least 4’ tall. Close to 9,000 candy packs were used to make this historic building.
It is a work of art. These pictures do not show all of the hard work they put into this school project. They did the project during their free time during the day and near the end of the school year they had to work more hours just to get it done before the end of the school year. Great job guys it’s something to be very proud of!

PEZ- update

It’s official. The 12th Annual Northeast PEZ Collectors Gathering will be held April 8, 9, 10 2010 at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Stamford Connecticut. (different hotel than this year) After a month of talking with several hotels, we found one that fits our needs and is reasonably priced. That’s the good news.
The bad news is this year our group booked less hotel rooms than we contracted for. So we have to adjust our group room block numbers which made getting a contract difficult. Everything is based on the rooms we book in the hotel. The more rooms we book, the more they want us. Less rooms we book, the harder it is and the more everything costs. So, in order to continue hosting the convention we have to make some adjustments. Hopefully it will work, but we need your help.
Our Saturday show has always been very well attended. All of our dealers talk about how busy the show is. For those that don’t know, it’s held in a big ballroom and we get at least 500 people coming through the doors. After talking with several dealers and giving it careful thought we will be opening up the Saturday show to include other candy collectibles and we will give the Saturday show another name. We are doing this to hopefully draw more people to the hotel, which should boost room bookings and hopefully help us continue hosting this convention for another ten years! The first time we do this, it may be confusing but I know it’s going to work.
Here is where we need your help. The Saturday show will be called the “Northeast Candy Collector Expo” (which will be held in conjunction with the Northeast PEZ Collectors Gathering) and will be open to all candy collectibles. Knowing the way our attendance/promotions have been for just the PEZ show, this “new” show will be packed. If you know anyone (collector or dealer) that might be interested please give them the information. If you go to www.CandyCollectorExpo.com/necandycon.pdf you can print our flyer to pass around. Please bring the flyers to shows or your local candy stores to hand out. This is the only show of its kind. It will be big. More information can be found on our web site at www.CandyCollectorExpo.com . We have several blogs, Twitter pages, Facebook pages that can be found on our web site too.
Don’t forget, the Northeast PEZ Collectors Gathering will be held April 8-10 2010 and information for the PEZ convention can be found at www.PezGathering.com. The Saturday Public Show will have a name of it’s own (Northeast Candy Collector Expo) which should make it appeal to a larger audience. It can’t hurt. Please help us spread the word……
PCN on Social Web sites
While talking about social sites, if you belong to any of them please add us. You can go to www.PezCollectorsNews.com/networking.html and please be our friend!
Pezhead University
We gave out 500 diplomas at the Northeast PEZ Convention from PezheadUniversity.com. To find out more about P.U and where he next “off campus’ class will be check out www.PezheadUniversity.com and attend your first class in Pezology 101. Got some fun videos from the NE PEZ convention there.
PEZ Pins
Where do I start? Our web site www.PezPinz.com has been updated and the web store www.PezheadStore.com was also updated. It’s now much easier to find stuff at the web store. The “Collectors Guide to PEZ PINZ” has been updated to include the new/future releases-it can be found at www.PezPinz.com . The Monsters, PEZ n Pets and the Circus pins and all Pin Sets are now discontinued or sold out.
Our new “PEZ dispenser” pins will be available starting on May 25th. These pins are really cool looking and are limited to only 139 made. They look just like PEZ dispensers. The PEZ PINZ mail order form on the web site www.PezPinz.com/oldform.html has been updated to include the new release pins, but they will not be shipping until after May 25th. You can print up the form and send in now. They will also be available in the next issue of PCN which is due out around the end of May.
ATTN: Reserved Pin number holders! There is a special gold glitter pin on the form that is available only to our current reserved pin holders in good standing. It’s a special pin, at a special price just to say thank you for supporting PEZ PINZ for 2 years. (only 40 pins holders on current list) Also, one rare color variation pin was packaged in the first 40 pins. For this release of pins, only 5 color variation pins of each pin style were made. For example, one rare variation of Bubbleman (red glitter stem) was made. One was randomly packaged in the first 40 pins and only 5 will be sold on eBay. Enjoy!
Any questions, just ask….
Happy PEZZING,
Richie

Wendy The Snapple Lady
Wendy said to say Thank you to everyone that wrote Snapple. After we all wrote to Snapple, a Newsday (a NY paper) carried her story and the story was also mentioned on www.PezezHilton.com . There is a group on Facebook and even a blog about Wendy now! Time will tell what happens. Its really nice what everyone did. Thank you.

Thanks,

Wendy the Snapple Lady gets Canned!

Hi Everyone,
Most PEZ collectors know that Wendy the Snapple Lady is a PEZ collector. Recently she was fired from Snapple. (see story below) I don’t know about you, but when I think of Snapple I think of Wendy. She is the face of Snapple products. As PEZheads, lets see if we can make a difference. All I am asking you for is a minute of your time. Please go to the Snapple web site (here is a quick link)http://www.econsumeraffairs.com/am_bev/contactus.htm?F1=snapple&F2=Snapple_Tea_Blendfill out the form and ask Snapple to bring Wendy back.Thank you….Here is the story from the “We love Wendy” group on Facebook. On March 5, 2008, Wendy "The Snapple Lady" Kaufman was invited to lunch by a VP of marketing for Cadbury Schweppes, the most recent owner of Snapple. He not only told her to pick the restaurant, but he also informed her that it'd be a fun and casual lunch. Unfortunately for Wendy, however, the meal would prove to be anything but. Just after she ordered, Wendy was told that her existing contract with Snapple had been terminated. They did give her another one at the meal, but it was a case of corporate posturing: they only wanted Wendy to sign it so she'd be tied up both personally and professionally for the rest of her life, for zero dollars. Obviously, this was an offer that she had to refuse. It was horrible, like getting served divorce papers after 18 years of marriage. No consideration of Wendy's history with the brand, no notice for Wendy and her family's sake, no severance package, no thanks for her years of loyalty to the brand or for loyal fans of the brand, no announcement to the public for her to say goodbye officially - nothing at all. Wendy was devastated. It wasn't so much that she was fired, but the meanspirited way in which she was discarded that stung so much. Feeling completely depressed, and having had no contact whatsoever with Snapple, Wendy had no idea how to handle the situation at hand. What was she supposed to say to all of the fans who approached her every day and said things like, "Hey, it's The Snapple Lady!" Last week, Fox News contacted Wendy to ask for a comment about Cadbury Schweppes' decision to make Dr. Pepper Snapple a publically traded company. You can imagine how shocked they were when the always bubbly and gregarious Wendy had no comment on the matter. But they were even more shocked when she told them why. That day, producers invited Wendy to appear on air to announce her firing from Snapple. Viewers were outraged and Fox's Neil Cavuto was so upset that he discussed it further on the following night's program. Would Snapple have experienced so much success without Wendy's presence? Probably not. But perhaps more importantly, will Snapple continue to experience success without its much-loved spokesperson? Not if legions of Wendy's fans have anything to do with it. Whether executives at Cadbury Schweppes like it or not, Wendy will always be The Snapple Lady

PEZ Pin collecting and PEZ PINZ for 2008

Well, if you don’t know, pin collecting is hot in our hobby. Recently a couple Limited Edition pins sold for $130+ dollars each. PEZ PINZ (licensed PEZ pins) are almost one year old now. We came out with about 8 different designs. The first 2 pins and our first Limited Edition pin set are sold out. Some of the designs were so nice, we recently turned them into key chains, ear rings and necklaces. We call those items PEZ PINZ Plus.
After listening to feedback from collectors and seeing what’s going on in the PEZ pin world. Here are our plans for the rest of 2008. In the June/July issue PEZ Collectors News (at the end of May for our web site) we will release 2 new pins. One will be a Circus design and the other will be PEZ n Pets design. No more gold or silver background variations. The pins will come on our numbered cards and ONLY 200 of each pin will be sold. For the ladies, we will offer those pin designs as necklaces also. Then in the August/September issue of PEZ Collectors News (end of July for web site) we will release another 2 pins. One will be a Halloween design (Mr. Ugly) and one will be a Holiday design (Santa). Again, only 200 pins, no variations. We will offer both designs as necklaces with matching ear rings for the Holiday design. We will also release an Elephant dispenser and Pony dispenser necklace and earring sets.
Now, this information is for the “real” die hard pin collectors. I really like old vintage advertising. So, I thought it would be cool to make collectible pins out of some old stickers. So, take a look at www.pezpinz.com/stickers.jpg for a look at the stickers we used. We will group the six pins, into 3 Limited Edition Collector sets. We will sell ONLY 50 sets with gold trim/backing and only 50 sets with black trim/backing. With only 50 sets they should sell out very quick.
Then, here is where it gets tough. It seems pin collectors like pins that have a low run. So we are having 15 pins made of the Raven sticker with a color variation of his beak and 15 Cat sticker pins made with his hat a different color. ONLY 15 PINS OF EACH WILL BE MADE/SOLD! To be fair they will be sold on eBay.
Due to the low release numbers of the Limited Edition sets we will set up a special PINZ email list. To sign up for the mailing list send an email to info@pezpinz.com with your email address. I think with the high interest in limited edition pins these pins will never make it to the PEZ PINZ web site.
All of the designs are now in the approval process with PEZ. Hopefully early May the first Limited Edition pin set will be ready for sale. So, if you are interested in pins drop us an email to info@pezpinz.com and get on our new PEZ PINZ email list
